Lest I catch myself tempted to come on here and complain about the things that I am lacking, I just wanted to record a most triumphant experience, so I have something positive to refer back to.

I was part of a gala event put on by my work last night.

Not only was I trusted to write the overall program script for the event speakers, but I got to meet one of them at the end of the night, and he praised me for the quality of my writing.

The speaker's name?

Bill Kurtis!!!!!!

Those of you who know me know what a big dork I am for him. So to hear him reading my words, and saying them exactly as written aside from a few well-placed ad libs?

OMFG it was amazing!!!

Okay, I'm done. Just had to gush.

I saw the FB pics. Didn't know he read your script!!

Were you mouthing the words in the audience like a stage mother? ;o)

Ha! Kinda. I was assigned to sit up in the balcony with the tech guys and direct them on specific lighting and video cues, so I had the script in hand and was following along for that reason.

I remember Bill Kurtis back when he was a bona fide newsman for...CBS? Then the true-crime fad hit.

Yep. He started at a small station in Kansas, then moved to Chicago, and got picked up by CBS through that. I sort of remember him from the period when he anchored with Walter Jacobsen, but I'm definitely most familiar with him through his A&E shows: American Justice and Cold Case Files in particular.

Truly proud of you! That should help be a big validation of your particular skill sets :)

Thank you. It really was! He even joked about how he savored every word.

And he inserted a quote from Anchorman, just because he is awesome like that.
