I've not read the Thorn Birds, but you've sold me on checking it out, because even though I occasionally found myself swooning over the overwrought dialogue, mostly it just made me snicker.
I'll gladly share my thoughts about both Eclipse and Breaking Dawn as I get through them...I'm sure I'll have complaints about them myself. I'm still trying to sort out my overall impressions of New Moon, and despite going all aflutter over that passage I quoted, the book left a lot to pick apart.
