One of those telling moments

So you know how I made vague references to a weekend excursion in my last entry? Long story short, I dragged two of my work pals (D and K) across the Wisconsin border for a wrestling show. Initially my plan was to rent a car expressly for the purpose of getting to the show and back, but then K mentioned that she had never been to Milwaukee, and suggested we extend our visit and splurge on a hotel so we'd have more time to do some sightseeing or whatever.
Needless to say, she didn't have to twist my arm that much to get me to agree, and it was really nice to have a place to crash that was mere minutes from the wrestling venue.
I liked our little room so much that I was reluctant to leave, but a return to reality was inevitable, no matter how much we dragged our heels. When I was finally gathering the things I needed to take a shower, D pointed out something ironic he noticed about my pajamas.
He said something like , "It's kind of funny that you're wearing Rancid t-shirt along with Hello Kitty pants."
I'd noted the contradiction in this pairing a while back, but having it pointed out by someone else made me that much more aware of it. Not to say that I became self-conscious or embarrassed or anything. It just helped me accept myself a little more, and truly appreciate the fact that I'm able to maintain a range of interests and passions that some might find to be mutually exclusive. I guess I just like knowing that I'm complex enough to keep people from being able to take me at face value. Not that this is intentional, but there's something fun about being full of surprises.
