How I spent my summer vacation

seabird78Can I just say that it was fan-freaking-tastic being unplugged from the world for five days?
I read. I wrote. I spent a lot of time just staring off into space, letting my thoughts wander. I looked at the overall structure and time-line of my novel more carefully, making some adjustments that I think will improve the quality and pacing of the story. I went walking with Steph, and we found a small waterfall feeding into a stream where we dipped our feet and accidentally startled a beaver. I cooked and ate some delicious food. Most importantly, I watched a shit-ton of Veronica Mars.
This is the way life needs to be all the time. The only thing that was missing was a devoted cabana boy with a knack for rubbing stiff, aching shoulders. There were a couple nights I would have really benefited from that, seeing as how I was performing the back-breaking manual labor of sitting hunched over my laptop for hours on end.
Oh well. If that and the possessed microwave are my only complaints, I guess I had a pretty good trip.
More on this later. I have to get to bed if I'm able since it's back to work tomorrow morning. :(
