One of my old Columbia College colleagues is starting up an online magazine, and she reached out to me to ask if I'd like to be a contributor. She's mostly seeking journalistic writing, but she told me to pitch anything that came to mind. We're in talks right now about how I can parlay my interest in pop culture into some story ideas that will work for her.

Work is sending me to a conference in San Francisco, where I'll be giving a presentation with two other people. It's not my ideal reason for visiting the west coast, but I'm sure I'll have at least a little bit of downtime to go sight-seeing.

It's not until early December, but I made all my hotel and airline reservations this week.
