I just became girlie
Jul. 25th, 2006 06:05 pmThere's this cute little boutique that I pass on the way home from work, and I'm always in envy of their window displays. All these cute outfits that blend hipster style with professional chic...way more thought-out than any outfit I could ever assemble. Before today, I'd only visited there once, and promptly settled into a state of sticker shock when I discovered dresses priced to move in the mid-300s, and all kinds of other things I could not justify spending hundreds of dollars on, even if I could afford it. I managed to unearth a pair of corduroy pants on their winter clearance shelf that fit me perfectly, patted myself on the back for exercising my bargain-hunter skills, and got out of there before the designer ts could start talking to me.
Since then I've resisted the urge to go back, reminding myself that it's possible to look cute without spending an entire paycheck. But their door was wide open when I drove past this evening, (they're normally closed by the time I roll by) and there was a big sign announcing a 50% off summer clearance. I did a U-turn and pulled into the parking lot across the street, wondering if I was stupid for even looking. I roamed the racks, realizing that 50% off would not make much difference on most of their stuff, and I kicked myself for being so impulsive. That is, until I discovered, the $29.99 rack! There wasn't much, but I managed to find an awesome pair of brown jeans, and this adorable grey linen skirt that has more flounce than anything I've ever owned. They both fit nicely, and I couldn't find the right tops to go with them but I figure that can be cured by a trip to Target over the next week or so. I walked out with a $80 skirt and a $150 pair of jeans for the cool price of 60 bucks. That's not something that's going to happen too often within my lifetime, so I couldn't help but share.
