Interesting...

It looks like I may be blowing off the reunion after all for an impromptu road trip to Detroit! Just got word that a pitch I sent out to write an profile of Shimmer, this women's wrestling promotion that performs in my area, got approved, but my draft needs to be submitted by Tuesday. And since a few of the women that I was hoping to use as sources are scheduled to be at tomorrow's ROH show in Detroit, I figured rather than working myself into a frenzy playing phone tag all weekend, I might as well head out there and try to get face-to-face interviews while they're all in one place. It may be a bit ambitious for a story that's only 500 words, but methinks its better to seek them out rather than waiting by the phone all weekend, hoping that they can squeeze in time for a conversation while in transit or when they reach their hotels. I'm much better at getting information from people in person, anyway, because I feel secure in having my recording device at my side and knowing that I probably won't be as rushed as I might otherwise.

And besides that, I've never been to this city, so hopefully I'll have some time to explore before all the action starts. Wish me luck!
