My Winter Vacation
Jan. 17th, 2007 11:32 pmSo I'm sure you're all clamoring for a detailed update regarding my Vegas shenanigans, right? OK, maybe not, but I'm gonna bore you with a report anyway.
Let's see, what was noteworthy about my trip...
The check-in process was painfully slow, so much that the video explaining all the restaurants and amenities in the Aladdin must have looped about twenty times while we were waiting to get to the front desk.
It was just as cold as Chicago, so we were tromping up and down the strip shivering in our hats and gloves. And it was so windy that the Eiffel tower thing was closed, which made me a bit sad.
M scared a middle-aged woman when he tried to approach her to ask where we could find M&Ms world (we thought she'd be good for directions since she was carrying one of those bright yellow shopping bags from the place). Apparently, there was something about him she found intimidating, even though all he did was call out, "M'aam," and step toward her as she was walking toward the entrance to Paris.
We finally found M&Ms world on our own, and got to pose for a pic with Red.
We amassed a collection of trading cards featuring sexy ladies with stars concealing their nipples. At first, M was the only one getting handed the cards, and I started feeling left out, so just on principle I asked a few of the guys handing them out why they weren't giving me any. They were taken aback I think, but complied without question. We didn't respond to any of the numbers listed, but sorting through them to see the different ways the women tried to attract customers made me snicker.
Got to geek out over Star Trek: The Experience at the Hilton. The service at Quark's Bar was a little suspect, though.
Found an awesome ticket place that sells half-price admission to a bunch of shows if you buy them for that night, and as a result we were able to go check out a topless revue called Bite. It involved vampire chicks dancing to 80's cock rock. Highly recommended if you can do it for the discount.
And finally, we amused ourselves with the mildness of the lead stories featured on the nightly news. Woman dies drinking too much water...Learn to protect your pipes in the cold snap... compared to the headlines back here it seemed downright wholesome.
So those are the main things. If I forgot anything I come back and add more later.
