Stupid people

Okay, so initially I wasn't going to weigh in on this whole Virginia Tech thing, but then I learned that Fred Phelps, the dude who takes it upon himself to stage anti-gay protests during the funerals of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, is planning to do the same thing at the funerals of some of the students who were murdered.

I guess it's not surprising, since this is his whole M.O., but it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I mean seriously, can someone explain how someone gets to be so meglomaniaical that they feel entitled to impose their viewpoints on the public? Most days I barely feel like my opinion matters enough to broadcast it on here, let alone to seek national media attention.

I guess I've just been more aware of people's self-absorption lately, and it's starting to grate on me.
