Things I like about 4th of July
Getting out of work on the 3rd early.
Having had the chance to meet
femme_dramatica for lunch.
Spending way too much time that normally would have been spent at work uploading pics from BFF's wedding onto my photobucket page so I can order prints much cheaper than those offered by the photographer.
Riding home on an entirely uncrowded train.
Sleeping in (until a whopping 9:30 a.m.) yesterday.
Napping in between bursts of eating and writing.
Seeing friends for a low-key bbq, complete with veggie polish sausage.
Things I don't like about 4th of July
Assholes popping off firecrackers ad nauseum.
Places I would normally visit on a day off closing early, or all day.
Loud noises interrupting otherwise pleasant naps.
Having to go back to work the next day.
I'm especially irritable about the last one, but it wasn't as hard to drag myself out as I thought, since I had the incentive of a morning yoga class and it was too hot in our place to sleep well. I'd still much rather be home in my bed, but since I have to make the best of it I'm just gonna mail it in as much as I can and try to look forward to tomorrow's short day (yay for Friday summer hours) and evening drive to Milwaukee for Summerfest.
