More about Veronica Mars
Jul. 5th, 2009 02:05 pmI didn't think it was possible for me to feel a greater love for Veronica Mars than I already do. But after Friday night's season two mini-marathon/BBQ at Steph's house, I have yet another reason to sing this show's praises.
There's a moment in one of the early episodes of season two where Veronica is visiting the site of a big accident. People have left all kinds of mementos to honor the memories of the accident's victims, including.....pause for a drum roll.....this guy: http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Alley-43-Darby-Dog/dp/B00005JCO3!
I know this might seem like a minor detail, but for me, it was highly exciting. You see, I have my very own stuffed Darby Dog, albeit one who's much smaller, and I value him as much, much more than just a cuddly plush animal. Weird as it might sound, I think he conveys a very distinct personality, one that I've expanded into a character that's inspired the only idea I've ever had for a children's book.
I can't look at the Darby Dog in any form without seeing this character, so when he appeared on the screen, I wasn't just seeing a lifeless mass of fluff, I was seeing a cameo appearance by my imaginary friend!
Yeah, yeah, I know that's a silly way to think. And I know the set dressers didn't have me personally in mind when they were setting everything up. But still, it gave me yet another way to connect with this show, and now I'm even more regretful that I didn't jump on its bandwagon sooner.
