But I think I can interpret the one I was e-mailed today, which I pasted below, as being in reference to my writing retreat that starts tomorrow:

Today you might find that some of your more ambitious plans could finally seem to be getting off the ground, JENNY. You should be happy about this, but you might actually go into a panic, fearing that everything could crash at the last minute. Don't assume the worst, and don't waste any energy worrying. Keep striving! You've gotten this far, and with a little effort all should go well. Hang in there!

I guess that means I can expect to make some good novel progress while I'm away. I sure hope so, though I've read these things, and other messages that I thought were signs of positive shifts in my life, wrong in the very recent past, so probably best to approach my week with very modest goals. My most important order of business is coming back with a better sense of how everything I've got so far is supposed to connect. And absorbing everything there is to know about tight plot structure from the Veronica Mars DVDs that we're bringing with us! Cause yeah, we're not using them for entertainment or anything. We're just being good students of storytelling.

Writers can study "tapes" just as much as wrestlers or other athletes, methinks! ;)
