Right as rain
Dec. 19th, 2009 12:03 amSo nice to follow a day that pushed me to the brink with a day that allowed some room for recharging.
Things were busy when I arrived at the office this morning, because we were still tying up the remaining loose ends from Thursday night, but we all cleared out at noon to head to Hyde Park for our annual office holiday party/lunch.
Lots of food and drink was had, and I won a raffle prize that I'm probably not going to be able to use since I don't live in Hyde Park and don't often find myself needing the services of a florist. But it was still nice to win SOMETHING since that doesn't ever really happen to me.
We were done by two and released for the day so I boarded the shuttle back downtown with my colleague K, who I had plans to hang out with. Initially we were gonna do a little shopping and catch a movie at River East, but then I got the idea to invite her over to meet Weevil cat, an offer which she was happy to take me up on, since she's never been to my place and has enjoyed hearing me prattle on about him for the last month.
So we walked to the blue line and headed home. Weeves was his usual hiding self when she first arrived, and even tried to seek refuge under the couch for a bit, so we left him alone and I introduced K to Veronica Mars instead, and it ended up turning into a marathon of epic proportions that ended with us finishing the first two discs of season one. Some mac and cheese was made and eaten in the midst of all this, and once we left him alone long enough Weevil even graced us with his presence briefly, coming out of his hiding place under my bed to have some dinner and to subject us to his intense stare. It's the first time he's made an appearance in the face of company, and it made me very happy.
I walked K back to the blue line at about 10, and actually enjoyed the snow for once, since it was light and kind of misty.
All in all a very stress-free, and fun day, much needed to help my exploded head get on its way back to being fully restored.
