I'm in one of those moods where I'm feeling the urge to post something, but I feel like I don't really have any amusing stories to tell or any update-worthy news that I can share right now.

I guess, having given that disclaimer, I'll just list some random thoughts and happenings and leave the decision to read or not to read up to you.

So let's see, what to talk about....

I took my mom to see an adaptation of The Year of Magical Thinking at the Court Theatre last Sunday. Got free tix as a UChicago employee. The production was wonderful. The company and the whole process of getting there.....yeah, that's something I will post about later. I still need a little more distance before I'm ready to talk about that fiasco.

Speaking of work, I'm gearing up for a three-day long event that I have to staff the week after next. That's keeping me somewhat busy. And I get to miss a couple days this week because I'm going to a Chicago Manual of Style manuscript editing seminar as part of my professional development. As nerdy as this is, I'm excited about it, especially since it costs me nothing. The seminar lasts three days, and will spill into the weekend since it happens Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but I don't mind because the stuff I'm learning is going to be super valuable.

Continuing the theme of talking about days off, I got to stay home yesterday. I needed to burn up a vacation day because I was on the verge of maxing out on the number of days I'm allowed to have saved up. Despite being a vacation day I was kind of productive. I organized close to a hundred thesis pages to submit to my advisor. They're still pretty messy and filled with gaps and unfinished scenes, but they provide me with a frame that I can use to better develop and pull together the first two acts of my story. That is, if I can keep at it and not get scared off the way I usually do after celebrating a milestone of progress. I also cleaned up a little and entertained my friend Clarise in the evening. She's been wanting to do a movie night since right before Christmas and this was the first chance we've had to do it. She brought Sweeney Todd and Grandma's Boy, neither of which I had seen. Sweeney Todd was decent. The other was silly but sort of amusing for all its juvenile humor.

I'm going to the Tamale Hut tonight for an art reception. This is something entirely separate from my reading series, and honestly I kind of look forward to being there and not having to play hostess for once. This time I can just sit back and enjoy the ride as a spectator. Lots of tamales will be eaten, that I can assure you.

Weeve is still his usual, stand-offish self. Though I woke from a nightmare really early this morning and found him curled up on my bed. He's done this before, but usually he stays near the foot. This time he was much closer to me. I was on my left side curled up in a fetal position and looked over to see he was inches from touching my back. Of course, he leapt off the bed the second I rolled over, thwarting any chance I had to snuggle with him.

That nightmare I had? I don't remember much of it. I only recall waking up feeling very rattled. I got up around seven this morning and watched a little Smackdown before trying to catch a few more hours of sleep. I had another dream that was much more pleasant, one that ended with me sharing a very tender kiss with C.M. Punk. In real life I don't have much of a crush on him (I sense he would be fun but quite a handful to deal with in any sort of relationship-type thing), but the moment was especially nice because of the way he cupped my jaw in his palm before our lips touched. Truth be told, I've been having A LOT of dreams that involve me getting into intimate moments with people over the last week. Never the same man twice. And some encounters more explicit than others. This is not a common thing for me so I'm not sure what that's all about.

I think that brings you up to speed. I've spent my afternoon lounging around and watching wrestling and the Vampire Diaries. I'm hoping that will lead to a hot dream with Ian Somerhalder tonight. In the meantime, I think I'll continue my reading of Watchmen until it's time to get ready for the art party.
