Embrace the Crazy

This weekend is one that I've been both anticipating and dreading.

On one hand, I get to take to the open road with one of my favorite girls for a mutual friend's wedding.

But on the other hand......

On the other hand, we have to be up and ready to leave our hotel by tomorrow at 7 a.m., in order for me to reach campus by noon for a work obligation.

I've done crazy, quick-turnaround road trips like this before with no problem. Hell, I am even fresh off an 18-hour visit to Seattle, which was even more grueling.

And yet.....and yet I can't help but feel anxious about being able to fit everything in. I know I'll be fine once we start the drive tomorrow, although the relief probably won't officially set in until I'm within the Chicago city limits.

You may ask, why did I agree to do both the wedding and work if the prospect of juggling these two things makes me so nervous?

Well, the work thing was not optional, because it's a special event that only takes place once every year.

And the wedding thing I didn't know about until the work thing was already on my calendar. I could have declined the invite, I suppose, but that didn't sit well with me, considering the fact that the groom, my friend Aaron, is someone I really care about.

So there you have it. It's one of those instances where I have no choice but to embrace the crazy.

I'll be wiped out when all is said and done, but as a trade off I'll also have some beautiful memories.

So c'mon, road trip, let's do this!!!!!
