A new story idea

I had a really vivid dream last week that may have given me the main character for my first-ever attempt at genre fiction!

I can't get too caught up in this story at the moment, because I finally finished a really troublesome chapter in the wrestling novel last week, and I want to keep that moving forward, but I figure it can't hurt to jot down some notes and musings so I can mull them over and figure out if this is a novel in the making or a short story or something else entirely.


Let's start with the dream, why don't we?

I was not an active participant.....it was one of those instances where it felt like I was watching a movie unfold behind my eyes.

Only one scene, though. A dark-haired female vampire, who I knew was pretty even though I could only see her from the back, bursts into a jumbo jet as it's in flight. Not sure how she got in, but my sense is that she attached herself to the moving vehicle and forced open some sort of hatch or panel. She's extremely pissed off and hungry, and immediately goes right into the main cabin, where she bites the neck of a business man seated in the middle section of seats. There's screaming of course, and a woman in the opposite aisle snaps a picture of the vampire lady with blood dripping from her maw after she's done with her victim. This pisses off the lady vampire, and she zips around the plane to the lady, so she can do away with her as well. There are more screams, and a sense of helplessness from all the trapped passengers.

Now initially, I thought that the reason this chick decided to invade the plane is because it would offer her a captive buffet. My sense was that she was angry and vicious and didn't give a shit about being recognized for what she was.

But that's shifting a bit now that I've had more time to think this through. Now I'm starting to suspect she's actually more vengeful than vicious, and I think her attack was one motivated by rage.

I don't know what triggered this rage yet. But I feel like maybe she's dying? Due to something caused by humans? I think it might be fun to explore what happens when you spend centuries as an immortal and suddenly experience something that jeopardizes that. How does one with unlimited life react when they realize their days are numbered just like everyone else?

I also think her name is Merrill. That's her name for now anyway. It might change if something more striking comes to mind.

So yeah, that's all I've got so far. Stay tuned to see if this ends up going anywhere.
