May. 22nd, 2012

I've been feeling bored and a little restless now that I don't have a big, life-consuming work project looming over me anymore. As I think I've mentioned in the past, I generally operate at two speeds - maximum overdrive or unmotivated slug.

I've allowed slug mode to take hold these last couple weeks, because mid-late April and early May were incredibly draining, but now that I've had some time to recharge I feel like I need to do something to re-ignite my vim and vigor, and for starters that means taking inventory of all the things that have happened or that will happen that are happy-making. I just don't want to slip into a prolonged funk, you know? Cause summer is coming, and I don't need to be dwelling on the things that I'm lacking. Fuck that noise. My life is good and fun, and I can see that clearly with just a simple shift in focus.

Reasons why it's good?

1. The Mark Lanegan conversation of awesomeness that I told you about in my last entry.
2. The most excellent night of stories that I hosted at Tamale Hut last Saturday, with a good turnout and better readers. I even got to give folks a sneak peek at June's show, since [livejournal.com profile] brendandetzner was there and participated in the open mic. Also got to see [livejournal.com profile] fuzzilla which was an unexpected, and lovely surprise!
3. I saw the Avengers. It gave me a nice serving of Thor goodness in the form of Chris Hemsworth, and I really liked Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk as well.
4. I get to visit Madison, Wisconsin for the first time this weekend. Even better, I get to have that experience alongside [livejournal.com profile] pattytempleton. It will be the first road trip I've taken since last September.
5. Against Me! on June 1!

I could go on, but I think this is a good start.
