Blergh

I think I slept for much too long last night. I had a series of horrible, unconnected nightmares, the last of which involved me trying to begin my first day on the job at Sears and running into all kinds of problems. My nametag was crooked. I was late. I kept walking in circles around the building, in a panic because the women's department, where I'd been told to clock in, was nowhere to be found. And then to top things off, I was accosted by an angry customer, an adult woman with the features of an overweight five-year-old, who scolded me for being unable to answer her question.

Needless to say, it was a relief to wake up and realize that this is not my reality. But I'm still feeling a bit disoriented and lethargic.

I need to shake this off. There's a lot I should be endeavoring to do today, and I can't work up the motivation to get started.

I need to:

Shower.

Clear my sink of dirty dishes.

Do laundry.

Choose a scene for tonight's Tamale Hut open mic.

Complete some student loan repayment forms.

Visit Office Depot to print Tamale Hut scene

Eat lunch.

At the moment, I'm overwhelmed and feel incapable of getting all this done in the time I have allotted. I wanna just continue lying on my living room carpet being a lazy slug.

Guess I should start with a shower, huh? I've found that feeling clean and fresh makes all the difference in getting me moving.

Dream hangovers are the suck, aren't they?

They sure are! My head is finally starting to clear, but it took a while for me to feel normal again.

I worked at Sears for three pretty forgettable months in grad school, so it seems to me your dream is accurate. Add to it only the customer walking up to me with a show and asking, as though I had a crystal ball, "Do you have this in my size?"

That anon comment was mine--been away from the computer for a while.

I laugh and shake my head at the moment you describe. Good to see you on here again!

Shoe, not show.
