Prime real estate

I just want to reiterate for the eight millionth time how much I enjoy the location of my office.

We're smack in the middle of the craziness that is the Oprah season premiere taping, which means all kinds of interesting things to observe.

Like, for instance, the activity on the Michigan Avenue bridge, where there's a small trailer for talent and a red double-decker bus where the big O herself was conducting an interview with some woman, presumably one of her special guests.

I was walking past all that on my way to get some lunch, and noticed a bunch of suburban-looking women on the walkway opposite me pointing frantically, fumbling with their cameras, and squealing.

Why?

Because they spotted none other than Mario Lopez, better known to me as A.C. Slater, making his way toward the production bus.

He was close enough that I could have touched him. I didn't, of course, one because I'm too civilized for that, and two, because even though I recognize that he's an incredibly attractive man, his particular brand of attractive doesn't do much to rev my engines. I did take a moment to admire his dimples though. They were on full display when the women across the street kicked their squealing into overdrive.

And then he was gone and I continued my walk south in search of a hot slice of pizza. A girl's gotta have priorities, right?

:)

Hee hee. Oh, Slater!

Actually, the geeky one grew up to be quite a LOOKER, dinnit he?

This is hilarious to me.

No matter how washboardy his abs, nor how dimply his mug, I can never get into Mario Lopez because a) he played Greg Louganis in some LifeTime biopic b) he was A.C. Slater in Zubaz and a muscle tank for part of my impressionable years

I wasn't aware of his role as Greg Louganis, but I whole-heartedly agree with you on being turned off by memories of him in Zubaz and a muscle tank. And you can't forget he had a mullet! :)

I heard something on the news about a big commotion downtown because of the Oprah show. I was like "huh? Ainnit on every day?" Maybe there's always a big to-do about the season premiere taping and I never knew.

Mario Lopez is from "Saved by the Bell"..?

Yeah Oprah had a special outdoor taping that required closing off Michigan Avenue from Upper Wacker all the way to Ohio. It didn't really affect me that much because my commute goes south of all that, but it did make for lots o' crowds in front of my office.

Mario Lopez is indeed from Saved by the Bell. And I think he hosts some show on Animal Planet currently.

He also co-hosts a cheesy celebrity show. "How does so-and-so stay so fit?" "How do A-list celebs roll on vacation?", stuff like that. Can't remember the name, Access Hollywood or something.

Pizza or Lopez? Pizza or Lopez? The choice is clear.

Indeed it is!
