2008: The Novel - Part One

As I mentioned a couple weeks back, I thought it would be cool to look back at 2008, posting the opening of the first non-meme entry I wrote each month, along with a brief commentary about any highlights (or lowlights) from that period in time. I should have done this a lot sooner, but hey this is me, and knowing how much I struggle sometimes to find the right words for ANYTHING, I'll rejoice in just getting it done in the first place. Because it's been taking me so long to compose, I'm going to do it in two parts. This entry covers January through June, and then I'll come back and tackle July through December, hopefully by the weekend. Sorry I have to break it up this way, but it's getting pretty long, and there are all kinds of other things competing for my attention right now.
