I know I've had a tradition these last few years of doing a multi-entry recap of the year that just passed -- breaking down each month of said year into a detailed summary, but it's starting to look like I'm not gonna get around to it this year.

I'm sad about that, because I really enjoy having a quick reference that I can go back to whenever I want to reflect on a given point in my life, but the reality is that my writing (and overall life) energy is being spent elsewhere right now, and I don't feel like there's enough left to give this exercise the time and attention it deserves.

What I do have energy for, however, is a truncated version of my tradition. I'm gonna post the first sentence (or in some cases, sentences) of the first non-meme entry of each month and see if they form any sort of narrative when taken together. It'll be my placeholder in case I ever get the urge to come back and complete the full summaries at a later date.

Here goes!

January 2010: It's 2010. And I'm not deaf. This is something to be happy over.

February 2010: In being a cat mommy, I'm learning that I should probably never, ever have children even if the opportunity presents itself.

March 2010: Time to pick up where I left off in my last entry. I believe I was talking about riding to my hotel in the airport shuttle, observing things that related (albeit indirectly) to wrestling, and wondering if I'd find more of them as my trip went on.

April 2010: Time to go to Eureka!!!!!!! Yay for me!!!!!

May 2010: Maybe I'm being weird, but I don't feel good about the fact that my last posted entry is all about the music to be played at my funeral.

June 2010: What's going on with you, cat? Did you have some horribly scarring experience with humans before you came into my home? Or are you just naturally anti-social, with absolutely no interest in being touched, held, petted or groomed?

July 2010: When I'm feeling down or lonely and it seems like my life is miserable and pointless, I need to remember days like today.

August 2010: So I am happy to report that last night's reading went pretty well!

September 2010: Kind of funny that today is 9 02 '10, ain't it?

October 2010: You are not allowed to be shitty.

November 2010: Looks like I survived October. Overall, kind of a quiet month (though the highlights were pretty damn high), which I suppose means that my demands from an entry a few weeks back were met.

December 2010: I wanted to spend the quiet dark of this morning writing a post reflecting on certain events leading up to this very moment, starting as far back as March.

Actually, that flows together in a very interesting way! Almost better than if I'd been overly indulgent and contextualized all of these things! See, I'm teaching myself to self-edit! :)
