School me in professional feet

Yesterday I was ailing from evil sinuses, today I'm bemoaning the fact that I can't seem to condition my feet to handle the couple pairs of cute, heeled shoes I've bought, or even some older dressy sandals that I busted out to wear with the first sundress I've donned all season. Which brings me to a question I have for all you ladies who hoof it/ride public transportation to work...is it normal to experience perpetual blisters from wearing "professional" shoes? I was wearing a flat loafer-type deal almost exclusively up until recently, so I don't know if my feet are still adjusting and need to develop tougher skin, or if this is something I can look forward to indefinitely.

The problem area is around my big toe, and higher up on the sides of my feet where the shoes rub against the skin as I walk. And it's not totally severe as of yet, but it's uncomfortable enough that I'm considering doing the Mister Rogers thing and changing from gym shoes into something nicer upon my arrival at the office each morning.

Although I suppose pantyhose might solve the problem as well....I just hate wearing them in summer.

I bought some skimmers/sneakers that are pretty light and wear those to/from the train or wherever I'm walking and change into my heels when I get to/from work. It's lame, but it does the trick.

On my heeled leather shoes and sandals, I rub a little olive oil on the leather, where it'll be meeting my skin, and that helps. too.

For shoes that are heeled but close-toed, I wear Peds if I want to wear a skirt or capris; with sandals, I bought these things at DSW a couple weeks ago that are like Peds, but without the toes--kinda like bands for the area of your skin that would come into contact with the shoes, presumably for open-toed shoes. I haven't tried them out yet, but those might be an option too.

Yeah, I think I'm realizing that while my walk to/from the train isn't all that long, it's too long to do without proper feet support. I think I'm just gonna have to start changing shoes, and I'll definitely take a look at Peds next time I'm out shoe shopping.

Thanks for the tip!

I get blisters too so I totally do the Mr. Rogers thing. Plus, I have to walk almost a mile to and from my train so it just makes it so much easier.

I'm sorry you have to suffer from blisters as well, but I am a bit relieved to know it's not just me having overly sensitive feet.
